The Temple of Philae, known as the Pearl of Egypt, is one of the finest temples in the country, dedicated to the worship of the goddess Isis. Built by the Ptolemies and Roman Emperors, it was relocated from its original island following the construction of the High Dam. This site is well worth a visit. This tour includes both the Temple of Philae and the High Dam.

ITINERARY

Enjoy your Aswan Day Tour! A Misrona Tours guide will pick you up from your hotel in Aswan to explore this amazing city.

The High Dam: Start your tour with a visit to the High Dam, an engineering marvel completed in the 1960s that protects Egypt from annual floods caused by the Nile.

Philae Temple: Next, you will visit the Philae Temples, the Pearl of Egypt, in a private vehicle. This complex, consisting of several buildings, was moved from its original site due to the construction of the High Dam in the 1970s. The name "Philae" originates from an island in the Nile River, 11 kilometers south of Aswan, famous for its temples built during the Ptolemaic and Roman periods in honor of the goddess Isis, the goddess of music, love, and joy, whose influence spread throughout the Mediterranean. The island of Philae was submerged in the 20th century under the waters dammed by the Aswan Dam, but under the sponsorship of UNESCO, particularly the French, the temples were dismantled, relocated, and rebuilt on the nearby islet of Agilkia.

Unfinished Obelisk: Then, proceed to the Unfinished Obelisk, which illustrates the techniques used by the ancient Egyptians to carve obelisks. This obelisk is believed to have belonged to Queen Hatshepsut, one of the rulers of the 18th Dynasty, who also built her temple on the eastern bank of Luxor, the Deir Bahari Temple.

After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
