ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Cairo
Your tour manager from Misrona Tours will meet and assist you at Cairo International Airport. He will escort you to the hotel in an exclusive air-conditioned deluxe vehicle. At the hotel, the tour manager will assist with check-in and review your holiday itinerary with you, establishing and confirming pick-up times for each tour. Overnight in Cairo.
Day 2: Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, and the Egyptian Museum... Train
After breakfast, depart early to visit the impressive Giza Plateau and its pyramids. This three-hour journey will allow you to discover the world’s most outstanding monuments, including the only surviving wonder of the ancient world, the pyramid of King Cheops. Adjacent are two other large pyramids: that of Khafre, son of Cheops, and that of Menkaure, grandson of Cheops. You will also see the world-famous Sphinx of Giza, which dates back to the time of Khafre, with a human head and a lion's body, as well as the Temple of the Valley.
The enclosure contains six satellite pyramids—three near Cheops and three near Menkaure, which were for his wives and daughters. Those who are not claustrophobic can enter a pyramid, choosing between the pyramid of Menkaure for 280 L.E. or the pyramid of Cheops for 1000 L.E. Tickets are available at the ticket offices at the main entrances, and only Egyptian pounds are accepted.
In the afternoon, visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, the richest museum of monuments in the world. Here, you will find masterpieces from the Pharaonic era, including the treasure of Tutankhamun and many statues showcasing Egyptian wealth in various materials. At the appropriate time, transfer to Giza train station to board the train to Luxor. This train features double cabins (with 2 beds) and the journey lasts approximately 10 hours. Dinner will be served on the train.
Day 3: Luxor (East Bank)
Enjoy breakfast on the train. A representative from Misrona Tours will meet you at Luxor train station and accompany you to the eastern bank of Luxor, starting with a visit to the Temple of Luxor, built during the New Kingdom by pharaohs including Tuthmosis III, Ramses II, Amenophis III, and Alexander the Great, situated next to the Nile River. You can see the 2,500-meter-long avenue of sphinxes dating back to the 4th century BC, connecting the Temple of Luxor with the Temple of Karnak, which we will visit next. Karnak is the largest temple of worship in the world, covering over 23 hectares and representing 22 centuries of construction for the cult of the city’s main triad: Amon Re, Mut, and Khonsu.
After visiting Karnak, return to your Luxor hotel for lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, enjoy a felucca trip and free time. Overnight in Luxor.
Day 4: Luxor (West Bank)
In the early morning, enjoy a relaxed breakfast before setting out to visit the western bank, including the Valley of the Kings, the most important necropolis in Egypt (the Place of Truth). You can enter three of the 63 tombs that have been discovered, which feature well-preserved colors and fascinating texts describing the afterlife. Our guide will select the most interesting tombs for you to explore.
Next, visit the Temple of Deir el-Bahari, the funerary temple of Pharaoh Hatshepsut from 1480 BC, notable for its unique design featuring two ramps and three terraces against the Theban limestone cliffs. The walls still display vibrant colors. Then, stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two gigantic statues that once flanked the entrance to the funerary temple of King Amenophis III.
After lunch at a local restaurant, return to the hotel for the night in Luxor.
Day 5: Edfu - Kom Ombo
After breakfast, check out from your Luxor hotel and travel by bus to visit the Temple of Edfu. This temple, located on the west bank of the Nile in the city of Edfu (120 km south of Luxor), was dedicated to the falcon god Horus. It is the second-largest temple in Egypt and one of the best-preserved, taking 180 years to build from 237 to 57 BC. The temple's walls feature inscriptions that provide important insights into the language, mythology, and religion of ancient Egypt.
After your visit, continue sailing towards the Temple of Kom Ombo. Walk to the temple, which features a unique design divided between two triads of six deities: Sobek, represented as a crocodile, and Haroeris, depicted with a falcon's head. The temple, elevated above the Nile, showcases polychromatic scenes, especially in the courtyard columns. After exploring the temple, visit the museum of crocodile mummies discovered in a nearby cemetery. Finally, continue your journey to Aswan and check in at your hotel.
Day 6: Aswan Visits
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the majestic Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddesses Isis and Hathor. The well-preserved Greco-Roman temple was relocated from its original island to Agilkia Island to prevent flooding from the Nile. After the visit, return to the hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a felucca trip on the Nile River. Overnight in Aswan.
Day 7: Aswan - Abu Simbel (Optional Visit)
After breakfast, enjoy a free day with an optional tour to the Abu Simbel temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located about 280 km southwest of Aswan. Carved out of rock during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century BC, the temples commemorate his victory at the Battle of Kadesh and honor his wife, Nefertari. In 1968, the temples were relocated to avoid submersion after the construction of the Aswan High Dam. Abu Simbel is one of Egypt's most important tourist attractions.
At the appropriate time, transfer to the Aswan train station to board the train back to Cairo. This train features double cabins (with 2 beds) and the journey lasts approximately 13 hours. Dinner will be served on the train.
Day 8: Cairo to International Airport
Enjoy breakfast on the train, then transfer to Cairo Airport for your flight to your next destination.
