This tour offers a perfect opportunity to experience the wonders of Islamic Cairo by visiting three distinct styles of architecture. As you ride and walk through secret doors, you'll hear captivating stories about Cairo while enjoying a wonderful walking tour of Islamic Cairo and Al Moez Street.
Mosque of Sultan Hassan: After breakfast, your guide from Misrona Tours will pick you up at your hotel to begin your journey to the Mosque of Sultan Hassan, built in 1360. This mosque exemplifies Mamluk architecture with its impressive mausoleum and madrassa (religious school). Next, you will visit the Rifa'i Mosque, constructed between 1869 and 1912, which represents Ottoman architectural style. This mosque serves as the resting place for many members of the Egyptian royal family, including the beautiful mausoleum of the last Shah of Iran.
Mosque of Ibn Tulun: Next, you'll visit the oldest intact mosque in Egypt, the mosque of Ahmed Ibn Tulun, completed in 879. This mosque features a unique minaret with an external staircase and exquisite decorations.
After this visit, you'll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Cairo.
Al Moez Street: Following lunch, you'll explore the historic streets of Old Cairo. Al Moez Street is renowned for its wealth of Islamic monuments. On this street, you'll visit two significant complexes from the Mamluk era: The Qalawun Complex and the Zahir Barquq Complex. Your guide will immerse you in the city's beauty and share a whirlwind of anecdotes, history, legends, and intrigue as you enjoy a fantastic walking tour of Al Moez Street.
The tour concludes with a transfer back to your hotel.
