The Temple of Philae, or the Pearl of Egypt, is one of the best temples in Egypt, the Nubian Museum is very interesting to see how culturally rich the land of Nubia has been and seeing the unfinished obelisk is something extraordinary, visiting the granite quarry and trying Nubian cuisine is very rich too.

ITINERARY

At the scheduled time we leave with the Misrona Tours guide from the hotel or another meeting point to visit:

Philae Temple: first visit with our private car to the temples of Philae, the pearl of Egypt. The set of several buildings that were moved from their original location to this new site due to the construction of the High Dam during the seventies of the last century. The name comes from an island located in the Nile River, 11 kilometers south of Aswan. It was famous for the temples erected during the Ptolemaic and Roman periods dedicated to the cult of the goddess Isis; goddess of music, love and joy that spread throughout the Mediterranean. Philae Island was submerged in the 20th century under the waters dammed by the Aswan Dam, although under the patronage of UNESCO, especially the French, the temples were dismantled, moved and rebuilt on the nearby islet of Agilkia.

The Granite Quarry: Then we continue to see the granite quarry and see the largest but unfinished obelisk, see how the granite blocks were cut and find out why it has not been finished.

The Nubian Museum: it is very rich in Nubian culture, walk through its rooms and see the new discoveries by the Spanish mission of the University of Jaén.

Lunch: in a Nubian restaurant.

Return: Then we return to the hotel and end of our service.
