Alexander the Great Road (Cairo + Alexandria + Siwa Oasis)
The story of Alexander the Great is well known and the time of the Ptolemies and Cleopatra is the most shocking of romantic stories. ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Cairo
Your tour manager from Misrona Tours will meet and assist you at Cairo International Airport and then he will escort you to the hotel by exclusive air-conditioned deluxe vehicle. At hotel the tour manager will assist to check-in and review your holiday itinerary with you to establish and confirm pick-up times for each tour. Overnight in Cairo.
Day 2: Tour of the pyramids and the Egyptian Museum (with lunch)
After breakfast and early in the day, departure to visit the pyramids of Giza and the wonderful sphinx. At the end of the visit, continue to a restaurant to eat a traditional menu and in the afternoon the most important visit for the masterpieces of the Egyptian Museum. Return to the hotel to rest.
At night, if you are interested in seeing the optional sound and light show at the pyramids. Worth.
Day 3: Excursion to Alexandria (with lunch)
It leaves early in the morning to visit the city of Alexandria, we start with the catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, then the visit of the Roman amphitheater then continues to the Alexandrian old port to visit the Fortress of Qaitbay. It was built in the 15th century by the Mamluk Sultan Qaitbay, right in the same place where the famous Lighthouse of Alexandria stood.
At the right time enjoy lunch in a restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean.
In the afternoon, a visit to one of the most relevant modern buildings in the city, the New Alejandrina Library, inaugurated in October 2002, which constitutes one of the most important cultural spaces in the eastern Mediterranean. Continue to the Alexandria hotel to rest and spend the night.
Day 4: Alexandria - El-Alamien - Siwa (half board)
At 7:00 am, departure with suitcases in a private air-conditioned vehicle to the city of El-Alamein (approximately one hour in route). El-Alamein is where the great battle took place during the Second World War (October 1942). There we visit the WWII Museum and the cemetery. We continue the day trip to the magnificent Bay of Matrouh, on the Mediterranean coast, with paradisiacal colors; where we have lunch. Then we continue the march following Alexander's footsteps crossing the western desert towards the Siwa Oasis and once we arrive at the hotel; We spent the night at Siwa Oasis.
Day 5: Siwa (cultural visits) (half board)
After breakfast at the hotel, we will go to the Temple of the Alexander oracle dedicated to God Amun, in the village of Aghurmi, and we will also see the temple of Amon-Ra in Um Ubayda. Later, we visit the necropolis famous by the name of (Gabal el Mauta) or the Mountain of the Dead; There we visit the tombs dug inside the calcareous mountain, hypogeal type, of the nobles and other interesting tombs such as Amun, Isis, and the Crocodile tomb. Afterwards we go through Cleopatra's well and freshwater fountain for a bath there and have lunch next to Cleopatra's fountain. In the afternoon, we pass by Fatnas Island; that you have to arrive at sunset time, because the landscape is truly beautiful. Finally, we return to the hotel to rest.
Day 6: Siwa Oasis (Salt Lakes and Safari) (half board)
After breakfast at the hotel, we start the day dedicated to the deserts of Siwa, transfer by car to enjoy the salty lakes of Siwa and the other version of the Dead Sea. We pass through the phosphoric sources of Abu Sharouf and the large field of olive groves… We continue through the mount of Dakrour, then departure to discover the Great Sahara and the sea of sand and the dunes; the pearl of the excursion and we will also have the opportunity to enjoy the desert sand surfing the dunes. Then return to the hotel and accommodation in Siwa.
Day 7: Siwa - Matrouh - Cairo (half board)
Breakfast at the hotel, then we leave with suitcases to discover the ancient city built in salt stone known by the name of (Shaly). Then we start our route back to Cairo passing through Matrouh where we have lunch and then continue to the hotel in Cairo… We will spend the night at the hotel.
Day 8: Cairo (International flights)
After breakfast, transfer from your Cairo hotel to Cairo International Airport for your international flight.
