ITINERARY
Day 1: Luxor (East Bank)
On the first day, a representative from Misrona Tours will meet you at Luxor Airport, the train station, your hotel, or any preferred location. After transferring to the Nile cruise, you will begin your full board, starting with lunch. Once checked in, we will visit the Temple of Luxor, built during the New Kingdom by pharaohs such as Tuthmosis III, Ramses II, and Amenophis III, as well as Alexander the Great. You can stroll along the 2,500-meter-long Avenue of Sphinxes, which dates back to the 4th century BC, connecting Luxor Temple with Karnak Temple, the largest temple complex in the world, covering more than 23 hectares and showcasing 22 centuries of history.
After the visit, we return to the cruise ship for dinner and spend the night docked in Luxor.
Day 2: Luxor (West Bank)
Early in the morning, we will head to the western bank of the Nile to explore the Valley of the Kings, the most important necropolis in Egypt. You can enter three of the 63 discovered tombs, which feature well-preserved colors and intriguing texts about the afterlife. Our guide will choose the most interesting tombs that are open for viewing. Next, we will visit the funerary temple of Pharaoh Hatshepsut, known for its unique design of two ramps and three terraces. You can still see vibrant colors on the walls of this impressive temple.
We will then stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two gigantic statues that once guarded the entrance to Amenophis III’s lost temple.
After returning to the ship for lunch, the cruise will set sail towards Edfu.
In the evening, enjoy the passage through the Esna Lock while sipping courtesy tea or coffee from the boat's terrace.
Day 3: Edfu - Kom Ombo
In the morning, we will visit the Temple of Edfu, located on the west bank of the Nile in the city of Edfu, about 120 km south of Luxor. Dedicated to the falcon god Horus, this temple is the second largest in Egypt and one of the best preserved. The temple's pylon stands at 36 meters high and 79 meters wide, and its walls feature inscriptions that provide valuable insights into Greco-Roman language, mythology, and religion.
After our visit, we will return to the cruise and continue sailing to Kom Ombo. Here, we will explore the Temple of Kom Ombo, known for its unique design dedicated to two deities: Sobek, the crocodile god, and Haroeris, the falcon-headed god. The temple offers beautiful polychrome scenes and columns in the courtyard. After visiting the temple, we can enter the crocodile mummies museum located nearby.
Following our visit, we will return to the cruise for dinner and continue sailing towards Aswan.
Day 4: Aswan - Abu Simbel Temples
Early in the morning, very early and before breakfast, departure to visit the temples of Abu Simbel. Abu Simbel is an archaeological site of Egyptian temples located in Nubia, southern Egypt. It is located on the western bank of Lake Nasser, about 280 km southwest of Aswan, close to its original site. The temples are part of the Nubia and Aswan Open-Air Museum, a complex that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979 under the name "Nubian Monuments". The temples were carved into the rock during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century BC, as a monument dedicated to said Pharaoh and his wife Nefertari, to commemorate their supposed victory at the Battle of Kadesh and to show their power to their Nubian neighbors. In 1968, the complex was relocated to an artificial hill, built on nearby land above the level of the future Lake Nasser. The relocation of the temples was necessary to prevent them from being submerged by the reservoir formed by the waters of the Nile River after the construction of the Aswan High Dam. Abu Simbel remains one of Egypt's most important tourist attractions.
After lunch, we will visit the High Dam and the magnificent Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis. Originally located on Philae Island, the temple was dismantled and reconstructed on Agilkia Island to preserve it from rising waters. We will return to the cruise ship for the night in Aswan.
Day 5: Disembarkation in Aswan
After breakfast and checking out of the cruise cabins, we will embark on a felucca trip on the Nile River, exploring the islands of Aswan for about an hour. You also have the option to visit the Nubian Village on a three-hour excursion.
Following the felucca trip, you will have free time until your departure. At your convenience, we will take you to Aswan Airport, the train station, or any desired location in the city. If your transfer is in the afternoon, you can also have lunch on board for an additional fee.
