The Lake Nasser cruise from Aswan to Abu Simbel
(4 nights / 5 days)
ITINERARY
Day 1: Check-In and Overnight in Aswan
Upon arrival, you will be transferred from your specified location—whether a hotel, cruise ship, airport, or train station—to the port at the High Dam in Aswan. Check in to your cabin on the Lake cruise, with full board starting from lunch. Enjoy a free afternoon on the boat. Dinner will be served at the designated time, followed by an overnight stay in Aswan.
Day 2: The Kalabsha Compound
After breakfast, embark on a visit to the Kalabsha enclosure next to the High Dam, which features four monuments: the Kalabsha temples from the Greco-Roman period, the Gueref Hussein temple, and the Beit El Wali temple from the time of King Ramses II and Quertassi. After the visit, return to the cruise. Set sail southward and enjoy lunch on board. Afternoon tea will be served, followed by dinner and another overnight stay on the cruise.
Day 3: Wadi El Seboe and Amada Enclosures
Enjoy breakfast before departing to visit the Wadi El Seboe enclosure, located 140 km south of Aswan—approximately halfway through the cruise. This site includes three monuments: The Wadi El Seboe temples (Valley of the Lions) from the time of Ramses II, the Temple of Dakka from the Ptolemaic period, and the Moharraq temple from the Roman period. After the visits, return to the boat for lunch. Continue sailing to the Amada enclosure, located 40 km south of Wadi El Seboe, where you will visit three more monuments: The Temple of Amada (the oldest, dating back to the time of Tuthmosis III and relocated intact 2,600 meters), the Temple of Derr from the time of Ramses II, and the Tomb of Pennut from the Ramesside era. Dinner will be served, and you will spend the night near Amada.
Day 4: Ruins of Kasr Ibrim and Abu Simbel
Set sail to the ruins of Kasr Ibrim, the only archaeological site along the cruise that remains in its original location, dating back to the late and Greco-Roman periods. These ruins are situated at a higher elevation than the lake's water level, so they were not relocated. Enjoy a 15-minute photo stop with a courtesy juice on the terrace, followed by a panoramic view of both Abu Simbel temples for another 15 minutes. After this, have lunch and then visit the Temples of Abu Simbel: the Great Temple dedicated to King Ramses II and the Small Temple for his wife, Queen Nefertari. Return to the ship for afternoon tea. There will be free time for the optional sound and light show at the Abu Simbel temples after sunset, followed by dinner and an overnight stay in Abu Simbel.
Day 5: Check-Out from Abu Simbel
Enjoy breakfast and check out from the cruise. Depending on your reservation time, you will be transferred back to Aswan, whether to the airport, train station, or another location within the city.
