Childbirth traditions

The customs of childbirth

Until the first quarter of the twentieth century, the pregnant woman who was about to give birth was put sand in some corner of the house and the mother spent until the seventh day of delivery in this bed. When she gave birth they wrapped the baby in an old but clean dress. The third day they washed the baby and gave him a name.
When a child is born, his grandfather donated a palm tree to him. On the night of the sixth day the father would put a vase of water next to the baby and the next morning he would pour the water on the tree. The other part is famous by the name of El-Seboue, Feast of the seventh day. The child is put on a sieve full of wheat; the girl with rice. Earlier he had shed his old clothes and wrapped himself in a dress made from one of his parents' clothes.
